Garden Fencing For Privacy
Choosing a Garden Gate Design
There are a few key elements to consider when choosing a garden gate design. There are several styles to choose from, including Arbor, Picket, Double-offset, and revolving gates. Each type has its own unique features and benefits. Take some time to explore the design possibilities and learn how to choose the right one for your garden.
Picket gates
Picket gates are a classic garden gate design that meshes well with cottage and English style gardens. They can be painted white to complement a white picket fence or paired with rustic brick or stone walls. The most common choice for picket gates is white paint with matte black hardware. A rustic, weathered wood finish is another favorite for a country-style garden.
Arbor gates
An arbor gate adds a rustic, old-fashioned touch to your garden and is a great entranceway to a rural home or farmhouse. These gates are weather-resistant and are made of sturdy steel. They can be installed yourself easily and come with the necessary tools. They are also powder-coated to resist cracks and fading.
Double-offset gates
Double-offset garden gates can be constructed with two hinges on the bottom. This design allows the gate to open over raised ground. The bottom hinge is offset by half a degree (a one-in-ten rise) from the top hinge, as shown in the drawing below.
Revolving gates
Revolving garden gates are designed with a revolving mechanism. They feature an electro-mechanical working drive unit, which includes a direct-current motor and a secured spindle drive. They also have a shapely, anodized aluminum body. They also feature a fine-sensor security stop to prevent the passage of animals, people, or objects. These gates can be operated manually or via a remote control, touch pad, or key pad.
Wooden gates
When it comes to creating a wooden garden gate, there are a few important steps to follow to make it look perfect. First, determine the gate’s width. This is largely determined by the distance between the gate posts. If they’re spaced at 875mm, then the gate needs to be about 3ft wide. The width can be achieved by using 150mm x 25mm (1” x 6”) boards or 50mm x 50mm (2” x 2”) boards.
Cedar gates
If you’re looking for a modern gate design that is both beautiful and secure, cedar is a great option. This versatile wood can be used for many different applications. Cedar is one of the most popular types of gates, and it’s also an excellent choice for a DIY project. Not only does it look great, but cedar also offers an assortment of fun designs. For example, some cedar gates have a giant “x” in the center and a small bar across the top, giving it a modern look.
Bamboo gates
Whether you’re trying to create a gate for your garden or a privacy fence, bamboo is a great choice. This environmentally friendly material grows very fast and is a strong alternative to timber. Bamboo fencing also contributes to a cleaner environment and curbs deforestation. Bamboo fences are also attractive and give off an exotic look. Bamboo is also available in many different colors. For a more customized look, consider tinting the bamboo with the color of your choice.
