Christmas Lights in Houston Neighborhoods

Houston is a city filled with holiday spirit during the holidays, from drive-through winter wonderlands to lazy rivers lit with holiday lights. There are also some gorgeous neighborhoods to see holiday displays. One Houston home, for example, has been decorated for 10 years. It has more than 50,000 LED lights and features a 32-foot tree, 10-foot Nutcrackers, and a Christmas show with 17 songs.

Pecan Grove

Pecan Grove is one of the most popular places in Houston to see Christmas lights. The neighborhood lights up during the evenings, and it’s free to view. The best times to visit are between 7 and 9pm on weekends. Visitors should be respectful of the neighborhood and its residents. You can also enjoy hayrides on weekends.

Heights

For the best Christmas light display, go between 7pm and 10pm. These displays are usually up until New Year’s Day, but they will come down after that. In addition, you can see lighted sights all along the Avenida Houston plaza. There are also events at Discovery Green. The Alley Theatre will present “Deck the Trees” and you can also attend The Ice at Discovery Green, which is free.

Head out to Lights in the Heights, an annual neighborhood Christmas festival. Although the festival is free, you will have to do some walking. It’s a great opportunity to see beautiful holiday lights.

In addition to the light displays in Houston Heights, there are many other neighborhoods with festive holiday displays. For instance, Prestonwood Forest Drive, off Highway 249, is an excellent place to visit if you’re in the area during the holidays. Zoo Lights at Houston Zoo features a variety of interactive experiences that will make holiday-goers feel like they are in a winter wonderland. Visitors can visit a selfie ice throne, interact with Candy the Zoo Lights zebra, take a socially-disguised photo with Santa, walk through a 125-foot Infinity Tunnel of Light, or watch dragons in the 4-D Enchanted Forest.

Zoo Lights is a seasonal event that features a 33-foot Holiday tree that changes color throughout the night. The show runs from November 18th to January 8th.
