Struggling to find a cute-looking set of knobs for your vanity or your dresser? Why not just make your own? Sure, there’s plenty of different designs out there that you could choose from but none would actually be as special and those made with your own hands from scratch. Also, making cabinet knobs from concrete is actually super simple and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t at least try it.
After the concrete has hardened, go ahead and pop out the little hearts. Be gentle so you don’t damage them. The silicone mould is flexible so you can easily bend it to make the process easier and smoother.

Materials that you’ll need for these concrete knobs:

  • concrete mix
  • water
  • bowl
  • spoon
  • heart shaped silicone mould
  • paint brush
  • white and pink acrylic pain
  • screws

How to craft these cute concrete knobs:

Step 1: Mix the concrete with water

Step 2: The next step is to pour the concrete mixture into the silicone moulds. We chose a heart-shaped mould because we wanted the knobs to look like little hearts but you can definitely choose a different shape if you want to. Take some of the concrete mixture and pour it into each mould using the spoon. Fill as many as you want, perhaps also considering making some extra knobs in case you want to practice on a few or in case some break.

Before you actually move onto this part, you might need to use a bit of sandpaper to smooth out some of the edges or correct some imperfections if needed. Then use your paintbrush to apply a coat of pastel pink paint onto the surface of each knob. This will be the base coat for your design.

When you’re done pouring the concrete mixture into the moulds, insert one screw into each one making sure it’s with the flat side down. Try to center the screws and to insert them in the same spot so the knobs look level and lined up when you install them. Also, make sure the screws sit upright. Then let the concrete dry and harden overnight or for at least a few hours.

Step 3: Insert one screw into each little concrete heart

Once all the supplies are gathered and ready to go, start combining the concrete mix with the some water in a bowl. Preferably you’d use a disposable plastic bowl and a plastic spoon for this since you won’t be able to clean them or reuse them after this. Follow the instructions on the packing to figure out how much concrete mix and water to use. Then blend them together with the spoon to create a smooth paste.

Step 4: Remove the concrete hearts from the mould

Step 6: Add the details using white paint

When the pink paint has dried, you can start adding all the little details of your design using white acrylic paint. Once again, feel free to choose any other combination of colors if this one doesn’t suit your needs or style. You can also go with the same design for all the knobs or you can try something different for each one. Have fun experimenting with a few patterns before you settle on a final design.
