Another minimalist house that looks very intriguing from the outside can be found in Monterrey, Mexico. It was designed by architect Alberto Campo Baeza together with local firm GLR Arquitectos and it’s called Domus Aurea.

Another cool house with a minimalist design that we’d like to show you today can be found in Portsea, Australia. It was designed by studio FGR Architects and it sits on a gentle slope, partially suspended over the side.

As for the rest of the house, the visible part of it is minimalistic and has a very clean, box-like shape with flat surfaces throughout. The interior is bright and simple but also sophisticated thanks to the way in which the spaces are lit up as well as the array of materials and finishes used throughout. 
The unusual shape of the floor follows the geometry of the site in order to make the most of all the available space. It consists of two main volumes, a larger one which houses the living spaces and social areas and a smaller one which contains the private rooms. Everything is wrapped in a clean and white facade with contrasting dark frames around the windows and openings. 


This house from Portugal appears to be floating above the ground with no foundation in place and that’s actually a really cool visual effect created using mirrors. MIMA Architects used mirrors to line up the bottom section of the house and these reflect the ground, the grass and the topography around the house.

The Jelenovac residence is located in Zagreb, Croatia and was designed by studio DVA Arhitekta. It’s surrounded by several neighboring structures but it manages to stand out through its clean and minimalist aesthetic.

This is literally called Minimalist House and it’s easy to see why. It’s a structure located in Okinawa, Japan and it was designed by studio Shinichi Ogawa & Associates. From the outside, all you can see is four solid white walls which frame the whole thing. There are no huge windows or openings that let passers-by take a peak inside and this gives the house a very mysterious and intriguing look. The interior is divided into three sections lengthwise.


The house has a gable roof but doesn’t follow a traditional design in other ways. Also, it has a weathered wood exterior which gives it a lot of character and a lived-in look. It also helps it to blend in and to look more natural in its surroundings. All the exposed steel, concrete and the big windows and glazed services reinforce a modern and minimalistic approach.

Minimalism takes a uniform form in the case of this beautiful house in Woodstock, US. The house was designed by studio Birdseye and its overall aesthetic is heavily influenced by the farmhouses present in this region. It was all however translated into a simple and modern design.

The minimalist and solid exterior of this house doesn’t give any indication as to what’s going on inside. It’s only once you step inside that you discover just how unique and special this place is. This timber-clad home is located in Akashi, Japan and was designed by studio Arbol. The exterior walls only have a few tiny openings, not big enough to reveal what’s on the other side. The house has three courtyards. The entrance leads straight into the living area which features a wood-burning stove, a tatami room and a small garden with fruit trees. The kitchen and dining area and open to the second garden which can be accessed via sliding glass doors and there’s also a third small garden that brings light into the rest of the spaces. 
The reason behind the name is the fact that the house has a very interesting design feature: a double-height wall covered in gold leaf. Its role is to reflect the sunlight coming from the South and to create a very bright and warm interior. As far as the rest of the design is concerned, the house is very simple. It doesn’t have any windows or openings on the street-facing side and there’s a perimeter wall that encloses the garden on all four sides. 

It’s about time we looked at a minimalist house that actually isn’t white. This is a lovely retreat in La Calera, Colombia designed by architect Rubén Gómez Gañán. It’s a type of modern lodge, situated in the middle of nature, away from the busy and noisy cities. The aim of the project was to establish a strong relationship between the inhabitants and the surroundings so in order to do that the architect connected the two sections of the building with a glass bridge. Also, the two cabin-like volumes have huge windows that let in lots of light and expose the interior spaces to the gorgeous views. 
Minimalism is embraced by many designers right now in a variety of different fields. For example, there are so many wonderful minimal houses out there and even though they’re all very simple by definition, they each look unique.
